Unless required by legislation the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 27 Step 1 of the union (OCSEA) Pay Range Schedule ($21.93 per hour) with an opportunity for pay increase after six months ($22.60) of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.

EDUCATIONAL TRANSCRIPT REQUIREMENTS:
Official educational transcripts are required for all post-high school educational accomplishments coursework or degrees claimed on the application. Applicants will be required to submit an official transcript prior to receiving a formal offer of employment. Failure to provide transcripts within five (5) working days of being requested will cause the applicant to be eliminated from further consideration.

Please note that a transcript is considered official only if it is an original copy from the educational institution and includes an institutional watermark ink stamp or embossed stamp. What Youll Do:

The Bureau of Vital Statistics operates a statewide system for the registration of births deaths and other vital events that happen within the state of Ohio. We are currently seeking a customer service assistant to provide information and communicate procedures to obtain or amend vital records. This job entails the following tasks:

  • Provides information and respond to inquiries requests and/or complaints from internal and/or external customersreceived by incoming phone calls and other means of communication (e.g. in writing and/or bye-mail fax in-person)
  • Reviews and verifies legal paperwork (e.g. birth and deathcorrections/affidavits abortions adoptions paternities court ordered corrections) for accuracyand completeness
  • Makes sure all necessary data that is part of the public record portion of abirth and death certificate is contained within the legal paperwork
  • Indexes and cross references legal paperwork to original birth and death records using manual and electronicmethods ()
  • Proofs and types documents and makes corrections (i.e. birth and deathcorrections/affidavits abortions adoptions paternities court ordered corrections)

This position will report to 4200 Surface Road Columbus Ohio working in office Monday - Friday during core business hours.
