The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) recognizes its Engineers are a highly
valued resource and play a critical role in ensuring the States infrastructure is safe reliable
dependable and sustainable. For that reason we are now providing monetary recruitment
incentives to new DelDOT Engineers in accordance to our Recruitment Program Policy and
Procedures.
The program provides recruitment incentives as follows:
Sign-On Bonus- Incentives are based on the position classification:
- $4000 Engineer I
- $5000 Engineer II
- $6000 Engineer III
- $7000 Engineer IV
Summary Statement
This engineering position will be responsible for assuring that subdivision construction and commercial entrance plan meet current DelDOT standards and regulations. This position will also work with local land use agencies to maintain a predictable process approval environment for developers and citizens coordinate land-use proposals and issue plan addition they will ensure the plans are reviewed and approved efficiently in the interest of delivering excellent customer service within the Development Coordination Section.

Essential Functions

- Drafts develops and modifies engineering designs plans and specifications.
- Reviews permit applications blueprints and/or designs prepared by others to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
- Applies the principles and theories of science and mathematics to research and develop solutions to technical problems.
- Plans and conducts field studies surveys research and development projects inspections and/or investigations to collect data and ensure conformance to state/federal laws and regulations.
- Tests or evaluates materials equipment systems and facilities.
- Plans and coordinates engineering projects.
- Reviews analyzes and reports on the status of projects and/or regulatory conformance.
- Develops cost estimates for project time and materials.
- Provides technical guidance and training to technical staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Engineer IV (Department of Transportation Only)
Applicants must have education training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
1. Possession of a valid Delaware Professional Engineering License OR Possession of a valid Professional Engineering license issued by a proper authority of a state territory or possession of the United States the District of Columbia or a province or territory of Canada.
2. At least five years experience in one or more of the discipline(s) of engineering shown below.

Conditions of Hire
