Position Overview:
The Homogenizer Ultrasonic Testing and Saw Operator plays a vital role in supporting billet production operations by ensuring billets are heat-treated tested and cut to precise specifications. The individual is responsible for correct furnace loading cycle execution and continuous monitoring of heat-treatment parameters to achieve uniform metallurgical properties. The Ultrasonic Testing (UT) function ensures billets meet internal quality standards through accurate machine setup calibration inspection and reporting. The Saw Operator ensures safe and precise billet cutting proper handling and routine equipment upkeep.


Together these responsibilities safeguard product quality enhance process reliability and support overall plant efficiency in strict alignment with safety quality and customer standards.

Compensation and Benefits:
The expected starting wage for this position is $22.50/hr. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law such as experience and training; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Perform ultrasonic (UT) inspections on billets including verifying cast details adjusting machine parameters and calibrating equipment.
  • Document and interpret UT inspection results reporting any failures abnormalities or equipment malfunctions to a supervisor.
  • Manage the batch homogenization process including load configuration charging coke furnace operation and temperature monitoring.
  • Prepare and transfer loads to a batch cooler monitoring the cooling rate and checking homogenization reports.
  • Conduct sawing operations including physical verification of cast details and cut lengths stamping and system data entry.
  • Oversee the entire sawing process including monitoring troubleshooting and handling manual operations as needed.
  • Handle scrap including removing generated material printing tickets and labels and transferring hoppers to the casting furnace area.
  • Prepare bundles for inspection including marking ticketing and strapping as per customer requirements.
  • Execute rework on damaged or misaligned bundles including re-strapping and re-stamping.
  • Re-allocate and re-bind stock as needed performing system entries for ticketing and marking.
  • Operate and perform pre-use checks on a forklift and sawing machine ensuring all safety guards and shields are in place.
  • Arrange and load wooden runners and strapping coils for continuous sawing and bundling processes.
  • Manage consumables and arrange hoppers and loose logs in the yard.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area free from scrap and dross.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures including wearing proper protective equipment and reporting hazards.

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • 3 years of work experience in an industrial manufacturing plant
  • High School diploma preferred
  • Basic computer skills
  • Problem solving skills organization and planning ahead
  • Completed Hazwoper Smoke House Molten Metal Safety and Cast house training
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required by production needs.
  • Ability to work in various temperature environments as needed in manufacturing settings.

Must have the ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions operations safety procedures and hazardous labels.
