About the Role


Key details:

  • Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3:30pm (Wednesdays 8.30am to 11.30am) 30 hours per week Term-time only
  • Wage: 7.55 per hour

Overview of the role:

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic apprentice to join our supportive team. As a Teaching Assistant Apprentice you will play an active role in the classroom providing general support to pupils and teachers as well as offering dedicated 1:1 assistance to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Alongside your hands-on experience you will be working towards yourLevel 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship developing the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an education setting.


Key responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN) ensuring individual learning needs are met.
  • Meet and greet the child each day to help them feel safe welcomed and ready to learn.
  • Support the childs learning on a 1:1 basis reinforcing classroom activities and adapting tasks as needed.
  • Encourage and help develop the childs social skills promoting positive interaction with peers.
  • Supervise lunchtimes supporting both social interaction and safe behaviour.
  • Promote independence in daily routines e.g. changing for PE and managing personal belongings.
  • Show a willingness to learn and develop knowledge in SEN support areas including Speech and Language Therapy and other specialist interventions

Qualifications required:

  • GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4) essential
  • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4) essential

Apprenticeship Overview


During this teaching assistant apprenticeship you will promote self-belief social inclusion and high self-esteem which will play an integral part to pupils wellbeing. You will become an essential part in the learning environment for the classroom teacher and pupils. Working to ensure pupils thrive in a positive nurturing and safe environment. It is an active role supporting the learner to access the curriculum and expand their knowledge. TAs play a crucial role in supporting teachers and pupils. Your work can have a significant impact on the childrens learning experiences helping them to succeed academically and personally.


  • Milestone 1. Keeping children safe in Education (KCSIE Policy child protection safeguarding awareness serious case reviews health safety and wellbeing legislation)
  • Milestone 2. Professional Standards and Personal Accountability (Relationships and Role Modelling CPD and Personal development)
  • Milestone 3.Child Development and Behaviours (Child Development Practitioners stages of development Behaviour Management).
  • Milestone 4.Curriculum and Technology (School ICT Systems using technology National Curriculum key Stages)
  • Milestone 5.Learning and Assessment Strategies (Assessment procedures feedback techniques SEND Strategies and partnership working)
  • Milestone 6.Prep for End Point Assessment
