Job Description
The Department of English and the Core Writing Program at the University of Nevada Reno (UNR) invite applications for a full-time non-tenure-track faculty position in writing at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor or Lecturer II beginning July 1 2026.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in teaching first-year writing with strength in supporting students from diverse backgrounds and underrepresented groups.
This position carries a 4/4 teaching load with courses primarily in Core Writing. At the discretion of the Department Chair and based on programmatic needs up to one course per year may be assigned in the upper-division English Writing curriculum. The role statement for this position is 80% teaching 10% professional development and 10% service.

Department Information
The Department of English housed in the College of Liberal Arts comprises a diverse range of fields of study including literature language and linguistics professional and public writing and creative writing. We also offer a minor in cinema and media studies. Our graduate programs include PhD concentrations in literature and Rhetoric & Writing Studies (RWS) an MFA in creative writing and MA degrees in literature RWS and Public Engagement. The department houses the Core Writing program for the university and maintains close relationships with other core and affiliate programs including Core Humanities and the Department of Gender Race and Identity Studies.
