Do you have experience in contract writing negotiating or penalties The Attorney Unit within the Department of Children and Family Services is seeking a professional with your expertise to assist in contractual legal matters/issues.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Serves as specialized counsel for complex contractual matters SFP/RFPS Procurement Issues Protest and Property matters.
  • Provides experienced legal advice recommendations guidance and assistance to Department management personnel regarding these matters.
  • Meets with senior management program staff and other governmental and private entities to provide legal advice and recommendations regarding the state procurement process and procurement activities. Many of these procurements involve multimillion dollar complex activities and multiple agencies.
  • Negotiates drafts amends and reviews complex contracts CEAs MOUs RFPs/SFPs procurement documents request for information invitation to negotiate settlements and other legal documents required by the Department.
  • Reviews and drafts responses to Protest of RFP/SFP awards filed by unsuccessful proposers.


Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational Promotional or Job Appointment

Career Progression: May be filled as an Attorney 1-3 depending on qualifications.

Work Schedule: Typically work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.

Location: East Baton Rouge Parish

Compensation:Special Entrance Rates have been established for Attorney job titles. The referenced positions are also eligible for premium pay of up to $2.00 per hour for hours work based on specific criteria.

  • Attorney1 $27.08 hourly (AS-617)

  • Attorney2 $28.98 hourly (AS-618)

  • Attorney3 $32.02hourly (AS-620)
