The Opportunity:
Hon Todd McClay Minister for Trade & Investment Minister of Agriculture Minister of Forestry is seeking a Senior Ministerial Advisor to join his this high-impact role you will enhance Government policy decision-making through the provision of high-quality timely and sound political advice. This is meaningful work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
What can I expect
As a Senior Ministerial Advisor you will be part of a trusted team supporting the Minister across his portfolios. You will provide strategic policy and political advice aligned with Government objectives. The role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with caucus coalition and support parties to facilitate policy and legislative progress. You will also manage relationships with spokespeople from the coalition and support parties and liaise with the Prime Ministers office on consultation matters.
This is an events-based position tied to the parliamentary term meaning the role may conclude with a change in Government.
The salary band for this role is $129510 - $161167 p.a.
What skills or experience would I need to be successful
A strong track record in political portfolio or Government advisory work with a strategic mindset and solid understanding of public service protocols and processes. Experience relevant to Hon McClays portfolios (Trade Agriculture Forestry Immigration) is advantageous.
Ability to anticipate and mitigate risks operating on a no surprises basis and ensuring key risks are communicated to the Minister and Prime Ministers Office.
Proven ability to manage high workloads prioritize effectively and communicate clearly both in writing and verbally with excellent attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills to build confidence and trust with the Minister team members coalition partners and stakeholders.
