Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide interim/brief counseling and case management services to clients with substance use disorders with moderately complex problems as defined by standard treatment criteria. This position coordinates all treatment activities with services provided to the client by other resources and evaluates client progress in implementing the treatment plan and makes appropriate changes to ensure progress as outlined in the SATS contract Scope of Work. Incumbent will be on site at the local DHS office to assist in the identification of Temporary Cash Assistance applicants and recipients and certain SNAP applicants and recipients along with TDAP and Child Welfare Clients and the referral of these individuals for assessment/testing to the appropriate treatment provider. The incumbent will act as a liaison between the FIA case manager the MCO if applicable and the substance abuse treatment provider. This position also provides information and input into the recipients status for initial and continued eligibility for benefits as outline the int contract deliverables.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Associate Counselors-Alcohol and Drug.

Experience: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the certification requirements for Certified Associate Counselors-Alcohol and Drug.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:
  • Experience with screenings and assessments
  • Experience with the Department of Human Resources

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07 candidates must be certified by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09 Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
