We are seeking Chinese-speaking casual bilingual Research Assistants. These casual positions are based within the Social Gerontology Division of the Institute and will work on the Befriending with GENIE project. This project aims to improve the quality of life of people living with dementia and their family caregivers from Cultural and Linguistically diverse (CaLD) communities using the BEFRIENDING with GENIE intervention which comprises a program of visits and an online social engagement tool.
Casual Bilingual Research Assistants
The research assistants will take on the role of researchers collecting data and completing validated measures with people in the community living with dementia and with their family caregivers. They will also conduct semi-structured interviews with staff and the dementia community.
Duties may include conducting visits with people living with dementia and their carers (living in the community); liaising with CaLD communities; liaising with colleagues and administrative support.
The applicants for these positions will be bilingual with appropriate cultural and language skills in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese).

To be successful for this role
The ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor degree in a social science and/or health-related field (or working towards this) and have relevant experience including:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Fluency (both written and spoken) in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese)
Demonstrated capacity to work independently to complete tasks and work collaboratively as part of a team
Demonstrated capacity to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
Demonstrated competence with Microsoft Office suite
Experience using Microsoft Teams and Zoom
Eligibility
