About the Opportunity
Chelsea Piers Athletic Club is seeking passionate and driven part-time Personal Trainers to join our dynamic team at our state-of-the-art fitness facility. The ideal candidates will be committed to delivering exceptional training experiences supporting members in reaching their fitness goals and promoting a culture of health and wellness. As a Personal Trainer you will work closely with the Fitness leadership team to provide personalized training programs foster client relationships contribute to member retention and uphold our standard of excellence in fitness hospitality and professional service.
Compensation: $40 - $50 per hour for training sessions depending on experience
Schedule: Varies based on business and client needs
Primary Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Fitness Programming
- Provide personalized fitness assessments goal setting and tailored training programs to a diverse member base.
- Complete complimentary new member fitness assessments as assigned by Fitness leadership and the front desk.
- Lead safe effective and engaging one-on-one or small group training sessions that promote member success and satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the Fitness Director and training team to support and execute innovative results-driven fitness programs.
- Participate in special events fitness challenges and workshops to increase visibility and drive member engagement.
Member Experience & Relationship Building
- Establish strong relationships with clients by offering motivation accountability and expert guidance throughout their fitness journey.
- Act as an ambassador for the Chelsea Piers brand by fostering a warm professional and inclusive environment on the fitness floor.
- Maintain open communication with members to gather feedback and adjust training strategies as needed to ensure a high level of satisfaction and goal achievement.
Operational & Facility Support
- During assigned floor hours help maintain a clean safe and organized fitness environment by ensuring proper use and care of equipment.
- Adhere to all club protocols including safety guidelines emergency procedures and session tracking.
- Report equipment issues facility concerns or member feedback to the Fitness Director as appropriate.
Sales & Service Promotion
- Proactively promote personal training services and other auxiliary offerings including massage recovery and specialty programs.
- Achieve individual sales goals through new member assessments referrals and supporting member progress.
- Support marketing initiatives and attend member events to increase awareness of training programs and drive client acquisition.
Qualifications
- Certified Personal Trainer through a nationally accredited organization such as NASM ISSA ACE ACSM or equivalent (required)
- CPR/AED Certification (required; must be renewed every two years)
- Bachelors degree in Exercise Science Kinesiology or related field preferred but not required
- Minimum of 12 years of experience training clients in a fitness or health club setting
- Strong understanding of exercise science program design and injury prevention
- Excellent customer service and sales skills with a passion for helping clients achieve their goals
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
- Enthusiastic team player with a professional friendly and proactive attitude
- Tech-savvy with the ability to learn club management systems and use fitness tracking tools/apps
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings evenings weekends and holidays as needed
