SQL Server developer with Upgrade experienceÂ

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop maintain and optimize SQL Server databases ensuring high availability and performance.
• Lead and execute database upgrade projects from older versions of SQL Server to newer releases ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
• Migrate existing on-premises SQL Server databases to AWS cloud environments such as Amazon RDS Aurora or EC2-based solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design effective database schemas stored procedures scripts and queries.
• Implement and monitor database security backup & recovery and disaster recovery strategies.
• Perform performance tuning query optimization and index management.
• Develop automation scripts and processes for deployment backup and maintenance tasks.
• Document database architecture procedures and standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly.
• Provide technical guidance on best practices for cloud-based database architecture and migration.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
• Proven experience as a SQL Server Developer with at least 10 years working on SQL Server versionsor later.
• Hands-on experience with database upgrades including planning testing and executing upgrades.
• Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services relevant to database hosting and migration (Amazon RDS Aurora EC2 S3).
• Experience with database migration tools and techniques.
• Proficiency in T-SQL stored procedures functions and ETL processes.
• Familiarity with AWS CLI CloudFormation or other automation tools is a plus.
• Understanding of security best practices in cloud environments.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Database Specialty.
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines related to database deployment.
• Knowledge of other cloud platforms (Azure GCP) is a plus.
