Position Summary

Performs Radiology and CT studies to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from infants to geriatric. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all JCAHO federal and state laws

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in maintaining records and reports

  • Takes call as scheduled

  • Interacts professionally with patients patients family physicians physicians offices and other departments throughout the hospital to ensure the appropriate and highest quality of patient care

  • Demonstrates good radiation safety practices

  • Perform radiographic and CT (or mammography) for all age groups including infant pediatric adolescent adult and geriatric patients.

  • Familiar with the proper procedure for screening patients for contrast risks injecting contrast and contrast reactions

  • Starts INTs using proper technique Is familiar with the RIS Teleradiology Tele neurology AW Workstation and PACS systems.

  • Monitors departmental activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency of procedures Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient.

  • Familiar with and follow HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.

  • Administers Oral and IV contrast under the direction and supervision of a Radiologist

  • Work involves potential exposure to ionizing radiation.

Required Skills:

Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Education/ Certification

  • Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology American Registry of Radiation Operator (ARRT)

  • Is registered or eligible for registry by the ARRT in Radiography and cross trained in CT/MRI/Mammography or Registered in CT/MRI/Mammography within 12 months of hire.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
