Business Controller
Full Time Role
Houston TX

Heres how youll become a key player with this opportunity:

The Business Controller is responsible for delivering financial reporting budgeting forecasting and analysis for a group of business units within the US Environment Division. This role works closely with business leaders to improve forecasting accuracy strengthen cost control evaluate financial position analyze capital investments review month-end financials and ensure accruals and accounting entries are accurate.

Heres how youll make an impact on the team:

  • Provide financial reporting KPIs and metrics to business units
  • Partner with business units on projections including budgets forecasts and mid-term plans
  • Review capital expenditures forms and investment opportunities with supporting metrics
  • Audit preliminary month-end P&Ls for accuracy and coordinate adjustments with the National Service Center (NSC)
  • Prepare and review specific accruals
  • Oversee annual inventory counts and fixed asset verifications for assigned business units
  • Act as financial advisor by analyzing cost results and the impact of business decisions
  • Review cost data and recommend actions to strengthen cost control
  • Prepare and analyze annual budgets based on historical performance and future expectations
  • Support accounts receivable collection efforts to meet goals
  • Review and evaluate capital spending requests to ensure effective use and proper control of funds
  • Provide financial data and analysis as requested by management laboratories accounting or clients
  • Remain well-versed in Spending & Contracting Authority (S&CA) guidelines; prepare deviation forms and related forecasts as needed
  • Deliver monthly financial commentary
  • Assist NSC with cash funding requests to Treasury
  • Distribute and monitor the monthly invoiced not received (INR) report
  • Prepare M&A financial projections and support integration of acquired businesses

Heres what youll need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience including at least 1 year in Financial Planning & Analysis
  • CPA CMA or advanced degree in Accounting/Finance preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Proficiency with accounting software and computer applications
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze interpret and report financial data including trend analysis
  • Ability to work independently

Pay Range:

$125000 - $135000
