Manager of IPAC (Infection Prevention and Control) & MDRD (Medical Device Preprocessing Dept.)

What We Do

We are an integrated health system providing the full continuum of care to the six communities of the western James Bay coast with over 500 employees physicians and partners in care. What Youll Do:
  • Direct and coordinate the infection control program across WAHA locations including hospitals and community services
  • Provide evidence-based expertise through clinical leadership mentoring education evaluation and research
  • Monitor patients and laboratory results for infections and epidemiologically significant organisms
  • Consult with public health and IPAC practitioners ensuring regional information sharing
  • Conduct hand hygiene audits and lead annual influenza awareness campaigns
  • Provide organizational leadership for outbreak management
  • Develop comprehensive reports on infection control activities including quarterly and annual reports to summarize findings trends and recommendations for improvement
  • Ensure the Medical Device Reprocessing Department adheres to guidelines set by relevant organizations
  • Liaise with Surgical Services to ensure timely reprocessing of medical devices
What You Bring:
  • A minimum of a bachelors degree in a relevant field such as nursing public health or microbiology.
  • Baccalaureate-prepared (BScN) Registered Nurse preferred
  • Certified in Infection Control
  • Public Health Certification (optional but beneficial)
  • Advanced Infection Control Training
  • 3-5 years in a healthcare setting
  • Minimum of 2 years specifically focused on infection prevention and control. Involvement in quality improvement projects for at least 1-2 years.
  • Ability to communicate in the local native Cree language is an asset
