Description

As an Architectural Engineering Summer Intern you will perform engineering design modeling drafting and detailing tasks in support of structural mechanical and electrical engineering. You will spend a multi-week rotation in each engineering discipline throughout the summer.


Summer Interns work as part of a multi-discipline team performing engineering design during all phases of multiple simultaneous projects. You will perform assignments under the direct supervision of one or more licensed engineers and concentrate on specific design or technical documentation tasks that contribute to overall projects. Assignments will include performing design calculations preparing reports and producing deliverable drawing sets including plans details and schedules.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists to design and specify project-appropriate engineering requirements.
  • Coordinates designs with the work of the design team.
  • Performs Revit modeling and detailing
  • Assists to conduct site investigations and observations.
  • Assists to prepare narratives reports hand and computer calculations drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints.
  • Assists to perform cross-discipline discussions and coordination.
  • Additional assignments may include attending client and internal meetings assisting with performing construction contract administration and assisting with marketing/business development activities.
Requirements
  • Must be working towards graduation of ABET-accredited degree in Architectural Engineering.
  • This summer internship experience is intended for students seeking exposure to mechanical electrical and structural engineering in order to assist in identifying future specialization for their education and career.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with computer software including REVIT is preferred.
  • Strong graphic verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of other building systems.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant working as part of a multi-discipline team.
  • Active involvement and demonstrated leadership skills in extracurricular activities on campus and in the community is preferred.

Pay range for this position varies between $18/hr-$23/hr depending upon applicable experience.
