Were looking for a Revenue Tax Auditor Specialistto join our Audit Review and Appeals Division!

Minimum Qualifications

Seven years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus four years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; OR

A bachelors degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus four years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; OR

A bachelors degree in accounting finance business administration management economics or statistics plus four years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; OR

An advanced degree in accounting finance business administration management economics quantitative methods or statistics or a Juris Doctorate plus three years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; OR

Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or a current Louisiana license to practice law plus two years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

In this role you will:

  • Evaluate audit findings recommended for assessment or refund by field personnel.
  • Serve as an advisor to the field audit staff regarding legal and factual interpretations on tax issues.
  • Coordinate the flow of information and activities among field staff attorneys and administrative personnel.
  • Perform initial review of tax audits completed by field agents and evaluates them for compliance with documentary and legal standards.
  • Conducts the principal review of audit protests in order to evaluate the legitimacy and accuracy of assessments and works to resolve tax disputes between Department and the taxpayer.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type:Probational Promotional Job Appointment Detail to Special Duty or WAE

Career Progression:This position may be filled as a Revenue Tax Auditor Specialist.

Compensation:This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $27.86 hourly $2228.80 biweekly. The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Work Location:This position will be domiciled in Baton Rouge (East Baton Rouge Parish) .
