For our Asia-based suppliers we partner closely to optimize supply chain performance and drive the success of Wayfairs warehousing and logistics offering -- CastleGate -- across both Wayfair and non-Wayfair order channels.
About the Role
We are seeking a strategic operationally-minded and relationship-driven leader to head our Supplier Inventory Management team in Asia based in Shanghai. As Associate Director you will lead a growing team of 20 and serve as the primary owner of strategic inventory and fulfillment partnerships with our Asia-based suppliers. Youll have specific responsibility for being the voice of our Asia-based suppliers as we develop CastleGate our fulfillment offering to serve both Wayfair and non-Wayfair orders for our supplier partners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving adoption and expansion of CastleGate Wayfairs proprietary warehousing and fulfillment solution for both Wayfair and third-party retail orders
Serving as an internal thought partner and leader on how our CastleGate offering should evolve over time
- Serving as a trusted advisor and COO thought partner to our top-tier suppliers ensuring high-performance inventory management through operational excellence and data-driven strategies
- Leading and developing a team of supply chain professionals across analytics vendor management and operations
This role is critical to enabling scale growth and supply chain excellence across Wayfairs global network.
What Youll Do
- Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and mentor a 20-person team across inventory planning operational strategy and performance and supplier development
- Set strategic direction and priorities for supplier inventory and fulfillment operations across Asia
- Serve as the voice for current and future imperatives for our Asia-based suppliers; Partner with global Wayfair leaders in Category Management Network Management Transportation / Logistics and more to drive supplier outcomes
- Supplier Partnership & Business Development
- Own supplier relationships for Asia-based vendors acting as a COO-like partner to their business operations leads
- Drive adoption and performance of CastleGate services for Wayfair and non-Wayfair channels
- Influence suppliers production supply chain and warehousing strategies to maximize speed availability and cost efficiency
- Inventory & Fulfillment Excellence
- Ensure strong in-stock performance inventory turns and aged inventory health for a multi-million dollar network of SKUs
- Identify and execute optimization strategies around inventory placement allocation and forecasting
- Own supplier performance tracking and resolution of operational risks
- Data Analytics & Execution
- Leverage analytics (SQL Excel) to develop reporting root cause insights and forecast accuracy
- Deliver high-quality reporting to internal stakeholders and suppliers alike enabling proactive strategic decision-making
- Support the design and implementation of systems and tools to enable global inventory visibility and management
