Security Officer - Team Lead, Evenings

This position is located at MT. Ascutney hospital in Windsor VT.

Responsible for leading and supporting a team of security officers in an effort to maintain the safety and well-being of patients visitors staff and hospital property.

1. Coordinate work schedules and assist resolving staffing issues work priority and post assignments with team.
2. Identify and facilitate the order of supplies equipment and other resources within approved and allocated budget.
3. Provide technical guidance oversight and mentoring to team members.
4. Provide site specific field training to new officers and identify further training opportunities.
5. Provide input to leadership regarding performance and/or need for disciplinary action.
6. Patrols all areas of the Medical Center and/or other DH Campus locations looking for illegal/inappropriate activity and security/safety concerns. Uses watch tour and/or card reader system to document patrol activity. Proactively provides information assistance and guidance.
7. Makes rounds to ensure the safety and security and provide assistance to patients visitors staff and guests.
8. Responds to investigates and documents security incidents and completes a thorough Daily Activity report.
9. Assists Nursing units clinical care areas and other departments with uncooperative combative or violent patients. Uses AVADE (awareness vigilance avoidance defense escape) techniques to educate prevent and mitigate disruptive behavior and workplace violence.
10. Provides patient watch activities to prevent elopement or injury to self/others.
11. At the direction of the medical staff applies restraints. Calls Lebanon Police Department as situation warrants. Deals with custody disputes and/or domestic disturbances amongst the patients their families and friends.
12. Searches patients visitors staff belongs equipment and/or property as appropriate.
13. Responds to emergencies and code calls. Performs CPR to include the use of AEDs. For medical incidents outside the building contacts the Lebanon Fire Department for ambulance response.
14. Monitors all parking lots for compliance with Medical Center parking regulations. Provides advice and guidance to patients visitors and guests. Ticket unauthorized parked cars. Watch for and follow up on safety hazard parking situations. Provide vehicle assistance services.
15. Assists Parking Officers with parking control as requested.
16. Assists DHART with helicopter arrivals and departures.
17. Releases deceased patients and accepts incoming deceased patients.
18. Completes all required/requested forms reports and documents.
19. Completes assigned CINC duties
20. Responds to duress alarms other emergency situations and routine dispatch needs.
21. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

• High school graduate required
• 3 years of related experience required.
• Direct security experience highly preferred.
• Exceptional customer service skills

• Valid drivers license with a clean driving record required in accordance with D-Hs Driver Disqualifications Guidelines.
• AVADE Certification levels I II and III.
• Certified in the use of Tasers Hand Cuffs Pepper Gel.
• CPR/AED Certified.
• Must complete all required training and pass minimal physical requirements within 90 days from date of hire and as required thereafter.
