Job Description

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Intern

Job Location: Camden NJ

Job Description:

Under general supervision the Sr. Associate Mechanical Engineer is responsible for assisting lead mechanical engineers in design/analysis to support mechanical layout of power equipment and other Navy based electronic systems. This person assists in creating equipment layouts that satisfy system requirements and account for tradeoffs among thermal mass properties structural and manufacturing considerations.

Essential Functions:

  • Applies the Solidworks 3D CAD system to the creation of mechanical layouts and drawings.
  • Develops detailed fabrication and assembly drawings and performs tolerances analysis.
  • Designs interconnecting brackets and support structure between components and subsystems.
  • Assists the lead mechanical engineer in cost estimates and components selection.
  • Conducts simpler thermal and structural analyses under the guidance of lead mechanical engineers.
  • Provides engineering support to system integration efforts including production support.
  • Coordinates and executes engineering design changes and performs some checking work.
  • Uses established and well defined engineering procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering or Electro-Mechanical Engineering and 0-2 years of prior related experience and/or training in mechanical engineering.
    • Or Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Practical experience with 3-D CAD (Solidworks preferred) and analysis software tools (ANSYS).
  • Good mathmatical skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Practical experience using Microsoft Office tools (Word Excel PowerPoint).
  • Able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with additive manufacturing materials and techniques

In compliance with pay transparency requirements the salary range for this role in California Massachusetts New Jersey Washington and the Greater D.C Denver or NYC areas is $25.00 - $47.50. The salary range for this role in Colorado state Hawaii Illinois Maryland Minnesota New York state and Vermont is $22.00 - $40.50. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire schedule type and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
