Role description:

This is an exciting opportunity for those seeking a career in transportation planning and are looking make an impact on the future of people and goods movement throughout the Greater Toronto Area and across Canada. Our team is looking for an Intern to join us in May 2026 for 12-16 months. Your primary role will be to perform technical analysis data visualization and report writing to support rapid transit planning studies travel demand forecasting transportation system/network planning and operations environmental assessments transportation master plans and active transportation plans. The work we do is highly analytical and data driven in order predict how travel patterns may change in the future. Were looking for a highly motivated enthusiastic collaborative and independent individual who is willingness to learn and take initiative. This position is within the transportation systems practice out of our Toronto office (55 St. Clair Ave).

Climate change urbanization and digitization trends are requiring todays mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the worlds growing population. We design connected sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities:

• Conduct research and technical analysis in support of long-range transportation master plans
• Environmental assessments business cases and active transportation plans
• Conduct travel demand forecasting and travel demand model development using Emme TransCAD VISUM software
• Support transit service planning and strategic planning
• Document and verify field conditions
• Prepare schedules and cost estimates
• Support of business development and proposal initiatives
• Various report writing.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Candidates must be enrolled in an Engineering Economics Planning or Geography program;
• Skills and experience in transportation planning software (e.g. Emme VISUM ArcGIS) would be an asset;
• Ability to analyze visualize and report data using computer programming tools (e.g. Python R) would be an asset.

We are seeking candidates with excellent oral and written communication skills who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in transportation engineering and planning and be eager to contribute to innovative projects in this dynamic field.
