Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center is a 24-bed acute care critical access hospital serving the Florida Parishes region of Southeast Louisiana. This Laboratory Technician 3 position islocated in the Pathology Department. The shift will be determined by the Manager. Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience as a laboratory technician; OR
An associate or bachelors degree in medical technology nursing clinical laboratory science or a biological physical or chemical science plus one year of experience as a laboratory technician; OR
Certification as a Laboratory Animal Technician by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science plus one year of experience as a laboratory technician; OR
Certification as a Laboratory Animal Technologist by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science.
Necessary Special Requirement:
Positions in Human Testing Laboratory environments must be licensed to practice as either a Laboratory Assistant or a Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Technician in the State of Louisiana as required by Louisiana Clinical Laboratory Personnel Law R.S. 37:1311-1329 and the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.Job Specification

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Performs veni-puncture in keeping with standard protocol on patients to obtain blood for requested analysis.
- Interviews screens and performs sterile veni-puncture in keeping with standard protocol to obtain 500 ML whole blood for use in the blood bank.
- Prepares laboratory specimens such as blood urine stool and sputum for diagnostic evaluation.
- Prepares feces and other materials for examination for the presence of ova and parasites.
- Prepares embeds cuts stains mounts labels and catalogues tissue sections.
- Prepares stains cover slips and catalogues cytology specimens.
- Prepares reagents soils and plant and animal tissues for analysis to identify pH lime organic matter minor elements soluble salts etc.
- Operates pH meters salt bridges balances and colorimeters calibrating as necessary.
- Performs microscopic examination records and reports test results.
