Position Description Summary
The Department of Mathematics Computer Science and Digital Forensics at Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania Bloomsburg seeks two full-time tenure-track Computer Science faculty members at the Assistant Professor level to teach undergraduate Computer Science courses starting in the fall semester of 2026. Course assignments will reflect the interests and experience of the faculty member and the needs of the department with opportunities to develop new courses in areas of interest. The home campus for this position is Bloomsburg with the expectation of serving a multi-campus University within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. About the Department: The Computer Science program is ABET -accredited and offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science offered at the Bloomsburg campus. It is one of two Computer Science related programs offered by Commonwealth University. An Applied Computer Science undergraduate program with tracks in Web Development and Data Science is offered at the Bloomsburg and Lock Haven campuses. The ABET Computer Science program is part of the Department of Mathematics Computer Science and Digital Forensics which also offers undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and in Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity. The department currently includes 31 full-time faculty members (20 at the Bloomsburg campus) and 6 full-time and one half-time Computer Science faculty members (3 at the Bloomsburg campus). The Department currently enrolls about 130 Computer Science majors (100 at the Bloomsburg campus). About the College: The Department of Mathematics Computer Science and Digital Forensics is one of seven departments in the College of Health Science and Technology at Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania. Duties
In addition to teaching duties include continued professional development through research and other scholarly activities advisement of department majors committee work and departmental college and university service. The successful candidate will need to complete distance education training programs as made available by the University within two years of hire for the purpose of teaching in a multi-campus environment with remote teaching needs.
