Early Talent Investment Analyst, Infrastructure and Natural Resources

The opportunity

As an Investment Analyst in the Americas team within the Infrastructure and Natural Resources (INR) group you will have a key role in analyzing potential private equity infrastructure investment opportunities executing transactions and working with existing portfolio companies to craft strategy and implement value-enhancing initiatives.

Who youll work with

INR consists of a team of specialized private equity investment professionals with offices in Toronto London Singapore Mumbai and Santiago. INR leads a geographically diverse portfolio C$55 billion with assets in North America South America Europe the Middle East Asia Australia and New Zealand.

You will be joining our Toronto office where you will work in a dynamic team-based environment directly supporting senior team members across various infrastructure verticals within the Americas. The Americas team aims to invest directly in infrastructure businesses that provide predictable cash flow inflation protection and support the creation of a diversified portfolio. Focus sectors include energy and utilities transportation and digital infrastructure. Americas current portfolio includes investments in Canada the U.S. Mexico Chile and Brazil spanning across utilities district energy toll roads ports and digital infrastructure.

What youll do

• Build and employ financial modeling tools to analyze investment opportunities;
• Assist in the due diligence process and incorporate the findings into a financial model;
• Identify key value drivers and financial risks and perform related sensitivity and scenario analysis;
• Work closely with external advisors consultants and partners to assess risks and submit bids under tight timelines;
• Prepare presentations reports and investment recommendations to senior management and where applicable the Board of OTPP;
• Review and analyze financial reports budgets board books and other information prepared by management of our portfolio companies;
• Work with portfolio company management to build and maintain financial models that are used to analyze strategic issues and value the company;
• Support internal strategic project initiatives and;
• Support the preparation of internal annual valuations.

What youll need

• Minimum 1 year of work experience preferably in investment banking or private equity
• Fluency in Portuguese is required
• Fluency in Spanish and/or professional experience in Latin America are also desirable and will be a differentiator
• Strong financial modelling skills
• Strong communication skills and comfort presenting to senior audiences
• Ability and desire to work in a vigorous fast-paced environment and balance multiple priorities under demanding timelines
• Bachelors degree required with a strong academic background
• Desire and ability to travel and work internationally
