The Clinic Supervisor performs supervisory and administrative work assisting in direction of the Women Infants and Childrens program. Work involves providing formal and informal instruction in proper nutritional habits and obtaining information from WIC program clients to determine nutritional status of clients and their children. Employee is also responsible for conducting breastfeeding promotion and support and obtaining information including blood samples to determine eligibility for the WIC Program.

Examples of Duties

Supervises employees reviews employee time sheets ensuring adherence to laws regulations policies and procedures.

Determines eligibility for WIC program participation based on established program guidelines.

Resolve problems as non-routine situations arise.

Conducts staff meetings

Fills out health forms and updates as necessary; audits client records to ensure compliance.

Teaches nutrition education classes and breastfeeding classes as set forth in the State approved plans; facilitates discussions on nutrition topics.

Provides WIC clients with information and referrals in order to follow up on their health goals and risk factors identified by WIC during the eligibility screening.

Coordinates breastfeeding promotion and support efforts.

Counsels clients according to their concerns and needs; provides referrals as necessary.

Provides nutrition and health screenings for pregnant breastfeeding and postpartum women infants and children under five years old to determine eligibility for program; conducts lab work as necessary.

Serves as a consultant to other health and welfare department programs and confers with various community health professionals and related groups to promote proper nutritional habits among child-bearing women.

Regular and punctual attendance is required.

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in related field and a minimum three years of experience in a WIC field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Possession of a valid drivers license. Must be able to obtain a State of Texas drivers license within 90 days of employment.

Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred but not required.

The position may require working outside of regular business hours.
