The Opportunity
Were looking for a PostGRES Database Administrator to support manage and maintain database workloads for a client project. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working collaboratively with development teams and solution architects and who thrives in ensuring database environments are secure performant and well-documented.
Youll play a key role in maintaining database integrity optimising performance and supporting disaster recovery strategies while contributing to schema design and query optimisation.
What Youll Do
Database Administration & Performance
- Install configure and upgrade PostgreSQL database systems
- Monitor performance and implement tuning strategies using tools like EXPLAIN and ANALYZE
- Perform regular maintenance tasks including backups indexing and archiving
- Develop and implement recovery plans and disaster recovery strategies
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with client-side developers solution architects and team leads
- Assist in schema design and query optimisation
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in a timely manner
- Maintain clear documentation for configurations procedures and policies
Security & Governance
- Implement role-based access controls encryption and auditing
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with security protocols
What Youll Bring
- Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL architecture configuration and administration
- Advanced SQL skills including stored procedures and triggers
- Experience with backup and recovery tools (pgdump pgbasebackup PITR)
- Knowledge of database security and schema design
- Familiarity with performance tuning and troubleshooting techniques
