Job Summary
1. Supervising the operation of the Audio Department of the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts during set-ups and performances.
2. During evening/weekend events or performances may be responsible for the management of the facility.
Organizational Status
Reports to the Production Manager.
Work Performed
1: Assist in training overseeing and scheduling staff. Supervision of stage technicians as required.
2: Ensures that client requirements are met in a timely manner.
3:Works within the schedule as provided.
4:Resolves client problems related to stage and backstage areas with direction from the Production Manager.
5: Ensures effective implementation of new and previously arranged Production Services to clients for their performances and related activities at the Chan Centre. These services should follow within the guidelines provided in the Chan Centre Production Policy and Procedures.
6: Recommends policies and procedures to the Production Manager.
7: In conjunction with the Ticket Bar and Front of House Coordinators ensures the performances and events run smoothly.
8:Oversees and ensures that the negotiated client production requirements are met for each performance event.
9:Represents Chan Centre to the general public clients and Artists representatives. This includes as required the staff and students of Theatre Film and Creative Writing Departments Ceremonies Office and the UBC School of Music.
10:Ensures security of the building and safety of the performers staff and patrons.
11: Reports deficiencies of building amenities to the Production Manager.
12:Compiles performance and event reports and forwards to appropriate staff.
13:Acts as the primary stage technician on some events.
14:Performs other related duties as required.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Errors could have a serious impact on relations with clients and patrons. Poor customer service could negatively impact these relations as well as patron safety and the Chan Centres financial viability. It is expected that clients be treated in a courteous and cheerful manner at all times.
Supervision Received
Works under the direction of the Reports to the Production Manager.
Supervision Given
Responsible for motivating and leading the casual stage and production staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Diploma in a related field of arts production or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum five years of experience in various production related facets of the performing arts demonstrating a responsibility progression. Specific skills in Stage Rigging Stage Lighting and Stage Management are required.

Preferred Qualifications
Specific skills in Live Audio and Audio Recording are required.
Specific skills in other departments of the theatre such as Lighting Rigging and Stage are preferred but not required.
