Job Description

Job Title: Medical Instrument Technologist (Diagnostic Ultrasound)
Specialty: Diagnostic Ultrasonography
Place of work (City/State): Navajo Area IHS hospitals and healthcare facilities primarily in Arizona (with some coverage extending into NM & UT)
Location: Navajo Nation and surrounding IHS Service Units
Duration: 6 months contract with possibility of three (3) 6 months extension.
Shift Schedule: Monday Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; may include weekends callbacks or holidays as needed

License / Certifications

  • Active ARDMS certification (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) required throughout contract term
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) current certification mandatory

Minimum Qualification / Experience

  • 36 months of relevant Medical Instrument Technologist (Ultrasound) experience performing a wide variety of examinations (abdomen pelvis OB/GYN breast thyroid vascular Doppler pediatrics etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to operate ultrasound equipment (GE LogicE9 preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient Diagnostic Ultrasound services independently:
    • Abdomen Renal Pelvic Obstetrical Breast Thyroid Testicular Endovaginal Carotid Extremity Venous Dopplers Pediatric Hip etc.
  • Review and document clinical records according to IHS CMS and Joint Commission standards
  • Confer with Radiologists and physicians regarding results providing preliminary evaluations and urgent findings
  • Maintain quality assurance and accreditation compliance (Joint Commission standards)
  • Adhere to infection control HIPAA Privacy Act and confidentiality protocols
  • Participate in orientation/training and comply with IT security cultural sensitivity and federal code of conduct requirements
  • Wear government-issued ID badge during duty
  • Ensure all medical records and documentation are complete accurate and timely before end of shift
