Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced GCP Technical Lead to drive the modernization of legacy Mainframe systems to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with a strong focus on BigQuery and other native GCP services. This role is critical to our digital transformation journey enabling scalable cloud-native analytics and data processing for a global automotive leader.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end modernization efforts from Mainframe (COBOL DB2 VSAM JCL) to GCP-native architecture.
- Architect and implement scalable data pipelines using BigQuery Dataflow Pub/Sub Cloud Storage and other GCP services.
- Collaborate with enterprise architects business stakeholders and engineering teams to define modernization strategy and roadmap.
- Design and implement data migration strategies including ETL/ELT workflows schema transformations and performance optimization.
- Ensure security compliance and governance standards are met across cloud implementations.
- Mentor and guide development teams on GCP best practices DevOps CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform preferred).
- Troubleshoot and optimize performance of cloud-based solutions and legacy integration points.
- Drive innovation by evaluating emerging GCP services and tools relevant to automotive manufacturing use cases.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience in Mainframe modernization projects (preferably in manufacturing or supply chain domains).
- Deep expertise in GCP services especially BigQuery Dataflow Cloud Functions Pub/Sub Cloud Composer.
- Strong understanding of data architecture data modeling and analytics.
- Hands-on experience with Python SQL Java and Terraform.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines Git and DevOps practices.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- GCP Professional Cloud Architect or Data Engineer certification.
- Experience in automotive industry or large-scale manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of legacy systems like COBOL JCL DB2 and VSAM.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and Scrum practices.
