The Propulsion Test Technician is responsible for the setup execution and support of tests for aircraft electric motors inverters and associated components. This role includes not only the assembly and testing of propulsion system components but also the routine maintenance and troubleshooting of test equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical and mechanical background with experience in electrical systems and test equipment as well as excellent problem-solving skills to address any technical challenges that arise.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

    • Perform hands-on assembly of test fixtures including both mechanical and electrical/wiring assembly
    • Install maintain troubleshoot and improve test equipment for both internally developed and externally purchased systems
    • Contribute to the development and execution of test procedures ensuring accuracy and thoroughness throughout.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Proficiency in operating hand and power tools
    • Experience with wiring and electrical assembly
    • Ability to read and interpret component & assembly drawings perform basic inspection of components using inspection instruments and gauges for troubleshooting purposes
    • Well organized communicative disciplined team player with strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision identifying strategies to remove roadblocks when needed.
    • Mental flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Above and Beyond Qualifications:

    • Experience in implementing test setups for electrical mechanical and thermal performance testing.
    • Experience with rotating machinery testing
    • Background in aerospace industry applications
    • Working knowledge of high voltage equipment
    • Working knowledge of electric drives and motors
    • Mechanical experience including familiarity with A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) practices or similar hands-on technical skills.
    • Experience with Matlab Labview Python or other data acquisition and analysis software

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    • This position requires handling motors and inverters using cranes and other lifting equipment. It also requires climbing on propeller stands using proper safety equipment to inspect the equipment.
    • Test technicians will work around high voltages and must be able to work safely in that environment. Some of the testing is conducted outside the ability to work at those extreme temperatures is required.
    • Test programs sometimes require the test technicians to participate in atypical work schedules.
    • Additionally as magnets are used throughout the equipment it is important that candidates are not affected by strong magnetic fields (e.g. individuals with pacemakers or similar medical devices should be aware of potential safety concerns).
$26 - $32 an hour
The wage listed here reflects our best faith estimate for this role. We pay competitively and base compensation on a variety of factors including skills experience industry background and the evolving needs of the role.
