Job Summary:
This Registered Nurse position in an Emergency Department provides skilled nursing care to adult and pediatric patients. The role involves a wide range of duties including patient assessment medication administration and management of various medical conditions and emergencies. Strong critical care skills and experience are essential.
Location: Newark New York United States
Responsibilities:
- Providing direct patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Department setting.
- Assessing patients conditions and providing appropriate interventions.
- Administering medications and treatments as ordered.
- Managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.
- Performing procedures such as arterial line management blood product administration central line care phlebotomy starting IVs continuous IV sedation and intubation.
- Managing patients with various conditions including CVA ortho-trauma abdominal pain asthma mental/behavioral health conditions acute psychosis drug overdose and suicidal ideation.
- Interpreting ABGs and 12-lead EKGs.
- Utilizing CPAP/BiPAP and chest tube management.
- Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
- Triaging patients.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
- ACLS BLS PALS certifications.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a hospital setting (preferably ER).
- Proficiency in managing various medical emergencies and conditions (as listed in Responsibilities).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Bachelors degree in Nursing.
Special Considerations:
- 3x12-hour night shifts (7 PM - 7 AM).
- Every other weekend rotation.
- First-time travelers are accepted.
- Location must be more than 75 miles from the applicants residence.
Scheduling:
- 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week (1900-0700).
- Every other weekend required.
- Shift assignments are pre-determined.
