Description The EEG Tech operates an electroencephalograph to measure impulse frequencies and differences in electrical potential between various areas of the brain to obtain data for use in diagnosis for brain disorders. The EEG Technician studies wave characteristics during test to detect evidence of brain disorders and may mark graph accordingly for study by a physician or neurologist. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision.
QualificationsEducation - High School Diploma or Equivalent
Training - Formal training in Electroencephalography with at least 2 years experience in a Neurodiagnostic setting
Special Skills - Complete technical knowledge of the function of amplifiers linear frequency filters and other machine mechanisms. Experience or familiarity with digital application. Must be highly skilled in recognizing and identifying waveforms and abnormalities in cerebral disorders. Must also have knowledge of cerebral anatomy.
Licensure - Registration with The American Board of Electroencephalographic Technologists (ABRET).
