About this Job
The Office of Management & Finance was established to provide administrative services to all budget units of the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections Public Safety Services. It is the mission of the Office of Management & Finance to provide effective support services in an efficient expeditious and professional manner to all budget units within Public Safety Services.
Minimum Qualifications
- One year of experience or training in accounting auditing bookkeeping or financial operations or computations.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. Job Specification

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Serves as the first level of review and approval of financial transactions relative to collections refunds funds disbursement cost accounting expenditure control budgeting grants management program analysis accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure accuracy and completeness of calculations legitimacy of transactions and proper authorization.
- Responsible for posting and journalizing a variety of small accounts or one or more large accounts of limited complexity.
- Confers with the general public patients vendors and employees to obtain information and answer questions on a wide variety of matters.
- Verifies calculations to balance receipts and to determine taxes discounts deductions and additional charges.
- Locates and corrects journalizing and posting errors.

Career Progression:This position may be filled at the Accounting Specialist 1/2/Technician depending on the selected applicants experience.
Location:This vacancy is located in East Baton Rouge Parish.Work Schedule:Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday - Friday.
Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The bi-weekly rates for each title are as follows:
Accounting Specialist 1 (AS609) -$1101.60
Accounting Specialist 2 (AS610) -$1178.40
Accounting Technician (AS612) -$1348.80
