Job Summary

The Opportunity:

Avantor is seeking a General Manager for the Manati PR site. The incumbent is responsible for driving growth and profitability by managing and overseeing all aspects of Puerto Rico business (Sales Customer Service Operations Quality Assurance Finance Pricing Services etc.). Responsibilities include establishing strategic direction planning and management of all local operations as well as working closely with the Avantor corporate support functions.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelors degree in science chemistry business administration engineering or related field

  • 8 years experience in a leadership role in the pharmaceutical manufacturing. medical device or similar industry

  • MBA from a top tier program is a plus

  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish a must

  • Knowledge in GMP FDA GLP and ISO regulations preferable

  • Ability to work in a results-oriented project-driven real-time team environment prioritizeprojects and deliver quality results within tight time constraints

  • Strong quantitative and technical / computer skills with significant experience in modeling andanalysis

  • Successful track record in leading profitable business growth with a P&L responsibility ideally in Distribution

  • Experienced in integrating business acquisitions

  • Ability to develop highly effective relationships with associates customers vendors and seniorleadership

  • Knowledge in GMP FDA GLP and ISO regulations preferable

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills verbal written and presentation; comfortable with interaction with all levels of the organization

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple initiatives at the same time

  • Self-motivated with strong initiative skills

  • Proficiency in computers (Microsoft office lotus or similar)

  • Experience supervising personnel

  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality

  • Superb communication and presentation skills both verbal and written

  • Acute attention to detail with the ability to step back and comprehend the bigger picture

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work concurrently on multiple projects

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to lead an organization through change and the development of a strategic plan that willset the direction for the future


HOW YOU WILL THRIVE

  • Responsible for overall profitability of Puerto Rican business.

  • Oversees all activities related tosales and technical services businesses.

  • Plan forecast and implement annual Internal Operating Plan (IOP) including capital requirementsplan direct and coordinate financial and budget activities to fund operations maximize investmentsand increase efficiency.

  • Develop long term strategic plan and tactical short term activities in order to attain the financialgoals and business objectives.

  • Review financial statements sales & activity reports and other performance data to measureproductivity and goal achievement; revise plans in accordance with current conditions.

  • Establish and implement departments with policies goals objectives and procedures as percorporate guidelines or country requirements to ensure continuing operations maximize efficiencyand increase productivity.

  • With department directors determine staffing requirements talent management and successionplanning

  • Facilitate performance management evaluation system ensuring defined objectives for all associatesand measuring competencies and achievement of objectives.

  • Confer with SLT to plan business objectives develop organizational policies to coordinate functionsand operations between divisions and departments and establish responsibilities and proceduresfor attaining objectives.

  • Coordinate with corporate support functions and staff members to discuss issues facilitateactivities and resolve problems

  • Monitor competitive environment to identify business threats and opportunities and develop business plans to address them

  • Identify new and continuing business opportunities for the short and long term profitability of the businesses.

  • Negotiate or approve local contracts and agreements when appropriate with customers suppliers service providers governmental entities or other organizational entities.

  • Plan and develop industrial labor and public relations activities designed to improve VWRs image and relations with customers employees stockholders and public.
