Overview:
Capital One has taken a bold journey to build a technology company while operating in a complex highly regulated business. We have built out a large engineering organization moved to the cloud re-architected our applications and data platforms and embraced machine learning at scale. Our AI/ML capabilities are now at the forefront of whats possible in banking. As we uncovered new challenges along the way we built and battle tested new capabilities to meet those needs. Weve open sourced several of the software tools we built and forged new partnerships with other digital leaders.
Through this journey weve developed a suite of internal solutions uniquely designed to meet the challenges of a digital-first cloud-first business at scale. The Capital One Software team is exploring how these internal solutions across cloud data governance and applications could serve the needs of other companies born or built in the cloud.
Role:
We are seeking a strategically minded Senior Director and top notch problem solver to provide financial leadership to Capital One Softwares business. This person will sit on the Capital One Software leadership team and directly support members of our Executive Committee. This role will create business cases to help evaluate expected return on investment for various initiatives across the software business including model creation consolidation of results and overall coordination of the process for both the business and in conjunction with Card Finance. This role requires strong customer focus and partnering abilities problem solving strategic thinking executive level communication and influencing skills in order to effectively:
Articulate outcomes of analysis along with relevant insights and recommendations
Partner with business leadership to assess the financial implications of ongoing efforts to grow the organization specifically as we add new products
Communicate business and analysis results to senior leadership audiences
Responsibilities:
Applies integrative thinking skills to help build a scalable software business
Create guardrails to forecast revenue and the marginal cost of adding new products
Drives multiple projects by providing thought leadership and working closely with highly specialized subject matter experts across strategy finance and corporate development
Communicates analytic insights through clear high impact executive-ready presentations - Develops analytic frameworks to solve critical questions and guide strategic decision making
Leverages sound business judgment and logic to evaluate analytical results and formulate recommendations which include supporting rationale
Builds relationships across the organization by partnering with peers and senior leaders throughout the company
Lead and build a team of associates to support the business
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or military experience
At least 12 years of experience in Finance Business Analytics Accounting Strategy Consulting or a combination
At least 2 years of experience managing a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function
At least 5 years of people management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Finance Accounting or Economics
Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Masters Degree in Finance
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
10 years of experience managing a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function
10 years of people management experience including both direct & indirect reports
5 year of experience working with Startups

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean VA: $234000 - $267100 for Sr. Director Financial MgtCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidates offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
