Degree and Teaching Experience: MFA or terminal degree in Screenwriting or a closely related field required. Interested applicants should have a minimum of three plus (3) years of university level teaching experience.
The successful candidate should have experience working in the industry (HollywoodIndependent or International) and should have significant credits/experience in writing on at least two of the following platforms:
The successful hire will teach courses in Screenwriting with a focus on developing and writing TV pilots both drama and comedy and/or long form feature scripts. One or more of the following sub-specialty skill sets are critical for the position:
The successful hire will be expected to 1) provide a high level of professional teaching and engage in the transition of students into the entertainment industry by recruiting mentors and participating in our professional transition programs 2) serve on committees and as academic advisors both at the department and university-level in accordance with tenure-line and departmental leadership standards and 3) challenge themselves their students and their colleagues to be actively anti-racist and work towards greater diversity equity and inclusion in the profession.
Leadership qualities and interest in leadership positions are key factors in this search to uphold the infrastructure and stability of our department. A tenure-line position requires deep commitment to service an interest in the intricacies of higher education and a specific requirement of future leadership as Department Chair and/or Graduate Director.
