Join our world-class Dynamics Noise and Vibration team as an Experimental Vibration Engineer and play a crucial role in developing next-generation defence technologies. This exciting opportunity offers the chance to work on cutting-edge projects including GCAP/Tempest alongside around 20 other vibration engineers across multiple advanced programmes. Youll be at the forefront of vibration analysis and testing capability development working on some of the most sophisticated aerospace technologies in the world. Your expertise will directly contribute to the development and deployment of revolutionary defence systems that will shape the future of aviation.

This role is based within our Defence business in Bristol where were developing the next generation of combat air systems including the groundbreaking GCAP/Tempest programme the future of fighter aircraft technology.

Work in a highly technical engineering environment as part of a world-class team of aviation engineers with opportunities to work across multiple projects and business units in both Derby and Bristol. Youll have the chance to work on component testing through to whole engine vibration analysis and health monitoring while contributing to the development of new vibration analysis and testing capabilities. Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office home or another remote location. As a minimum were all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons on average three days per week.

What you will be doing

With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to:

  • Support Engine Development Programmes with analysis and interpretation of dynamic data to support the validation and certification of new engine projects including GCAP/Tempest
  • Manage and specify component and sub-system testing at the Rolls-Royce Mechanical Test Operation Center and other test facilities in the supply chain
  • Develop vibration analysis and testing capability including impact testing and modal testing of engine hardware
  • Support in service and operational issues with the analysis and interpretation of operational data

To be successful in this role you will need to:

  • Hold an Engineering degree
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and strong analytical thinking
  • Possess strong communication and customer service skills
  • Have previous experience in an engineering discipline ideally with whole engine or development experience
  • Show familiarity with Matlab and whole engine systems (beneficial but not essential)
