SPS is seeking an experienced Salem elementary educator from each elementary school to serve as the materials consultant for their school for one academic year. The science materials consultant will be supervised by the Executive Director of Academics and will support the implementation of a district-wide science materials system so that their school has everything they need to implement the hand-on components of Amplify Science. The compensation for this work will be $1000.
Elementary Science Implementation Consultant for Science Materials Responsibilities:
- August-September
- locate and verify the materials needed for Amplify Science investigations and request organizational needs to keep track of materials
- attend one 1 hour after school meeting to review the expectations the materials consultant position
- October-November - communicate with your community about the procedures for getting science materials and get them as needed (ex. from Market Basket Amazon etc.)
- Attend 2 1-hour after school meetings (1 in December 1 in February) to:
- get organized for spring ordering needs
- review spending and processes
- March - Create a shopping list for the 26-27 school year based on the inventory
Essential Attributes:
- Must be detail-oriented
- Possesses a strong sense of responsibility to their school community
- Clear communicator who can support teachers in navigating the new system
- Ability to attend 3 1-hour after school meetings
- Holds an unwavering belief that every student and teacher in Salem can grow and succeed.
- Has a strong work ethic is self-directed and has the ability to work independently.
Qualifications:
- Current educator in Salem Public Schools
- Awareness of Amplify Science materials a plus
