Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Solar Project Manager to oversee the planning execution and delivery of solar energy projects. The successful candidate will manage all phases of solar installations from site assessment to commissioning ensuring projects are completed on time within budget and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership technical expertise in solar energy systems and excellent communication skills to coordinate with internal teams clients and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed project plans including timelines budgets and resource allocation for solar installations.
- Conduct site assessments to evaluate feasibility including solar irradiance structural integrity and permitting requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering procurement and construction (EPC) teams to ensure alignment on project goals.
- Oversee installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems ensuring compliance with design specifications safety standards and local regulations.
- Manage subcontractors vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Monitor project progress identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to address delays or issues.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients providing regular updates on project status and addressing concerns.
- Collaborate with internal teams including sales design and finance to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies utilities and inspectors to secure permits and approvals.
- Ensure all installations meet industry standards (e.g. NEC UL IEEE) and company quality benchmarks.
- Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols including OSHA regulations to protect team members and subcontractors.
- Oversee system testing commissioning and handover to clients.
- Prepare and submit project documentation including as-built drawings warranties and performance reports.
- Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and opportunities for improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Renewable Energy Construction Management or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g. PMP NABCEP) are a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of project management experience in solar energy or renewable energy projects.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering solar PV projects on time and within budget.
- Experience with utility-scale commercial or residential solar installations is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems including design installation and maintenance.
- Familiarity with project management tools
