Job Summary

JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Lead Transportation Coordinator Report Identification Code: edttscJob Purpose Statement: Under the supervision of the Transportation Supervisor the Lead Transportation Coordinator is responsible for assisting in planning organizing and coordinating the functions in transportation operations; managing the day to day office functions; meeting scheduling demands; providing clerical support to assigned staff; assisting staff in the performance of their functions; evaluating resolving and/or recommending solutions to incidents complaints and/or accidents; and providing dispatcher support in potentially critical situations; serves as the bus driver trainer when needed and assists with evaluating driving skills. Essential Job Functions:Serves as a liaison between district and school administration staff parents students community and various agencies for the purpose of resolving issues and seeking positive in planning organizing and coordinating operating procedures communications and administrative support functions to help ensure efficient and effective organizes and conducts orientation and in-service training programs for transportation personnel. Assists in the assessment of incidents complaints and/or accidents for the purpose of resolving or recommending a resolution to the training for the purpose of maintaining skills and meeting requirements for driving and driver training and first aid with transportation staff for the purpose of ensuring completion of all aspects of transportation functions in a safe and efficient bus routes and activity trips for the purpose of providing efficient and timely transportation of students and other transportation vehicles for the purpose of providing back-up support to transportation staff and ensuring continuity of transportation staff training records for the purpose of providing documentation for audit purposes and meeting district state and federal payroll of department staff for the purpose of ensuring proper compensation of written documentation for the purpose of providing written support accountability and conveying to inquiries from staff parents and the public for the purpose of providing information and/or direction as may be field trips for the purpose of coordinating required functions and meeting instructional as l dispatcher for the purpose of meeting schedule demands providing direction in potentially critical situations and responding to emergency Transportation Supervisor responsibilities when the supervisor is unavailable. Other Job Functions:Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work as the school bus trainer by providing instruction and behind the wheel training for school bus drivers and prospective school bus with evaluating school bus drivers driving skills/ability and addressing school bus regulations and safety procedures; Job Requirements - Qualifications:Experience:o Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility requiredoExperience as a School Bus Driver year (1) to three years (3) experience as a trainer or coach preferred. Skills Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Skills to: Exercise excellent judgement resolve difficult and sensitive situations with tact; use English in both written and verbal form to communicate effectively with staff parents and the public; utilize tact patience and courtesy; evaluate schedules and meet deadlines; deliver meaningful instruction to drivers; effectively evaluate the driving habits skills and ability of drivers; plan and organize projects and facilitate training; operate standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; make judgments based on common sense and relating to pertinent regulations policies codes and laws; maintain accurate and detailed records; apply pertinent codes regulations policies and/or laws; provide direction to others; and perform basic arithmetic calculations; operate school buses and other vehicles in a safe of: vehicle operation; driving codes; safety requirements and practices; appropriate policies regulations codes and laws applicable to personnel and transportation services; effective instructional skills and strategies; relevant policies procedures and local state and federal laws and regulations; information technology computer systems and routing software; standard office procedures; and problem-solving to: and plan and adjust routes using routing systems and computer software; understand and carry out verbal and written instructions; make common sense decisions in potentially critical situations; effectively provide instruction; interact with persons of different age groups and cultural/educational backgrounds; develop positive relationships; effectively manage routines and procedures; demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness; attend staff professional and other meetings as needed; read interpret apply and explain rules regulations policies and procedures; maintain current knowledge of program rules regulations and requirements; adhere to safe work practices; adjust to flexible work assignments; work cooperatively with others; perform tasks in an environment with many distractions and interruptions; work under time constraints and in pressure situations; maintain confidentiality of personnel records; perform a variety of tasks; think logically with attention to detail; and work accurately and with minimal physical abilities include sitting for prolonged periods reaching/handling/ fingering talking/hearing conversations and other sounds near/far visual acuity/depth perception/visual accommodation/field of vision. Education Required: High school diploma or equivalentLicenses Certifications Bonding and/or Testing Required: Fingerprint/criminal justice clearance; valid drivers license and evidence of insurability and be at least 21 years of age; drug/alcohol testing clearance; DOT physical; possession of a Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with school bus endorsement without an airbrake restriction or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire; Idaho State School Bus Drivers Certification; first aid and CPR certification.
