Education and/or Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is: Equivalent to graduation from high school and 4 years of progressively responsible administrative experience.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of office practices and procedures; business correspondence; recordkeeping systems; office machine operation; English grammar including usage and composition; telephone etiquette; ability to perform filing indexing and cross-referencing methods receptionist recordkeeping and other related administrative support tasks; ability to exercise judgment and tact in dealing with the public and other employees; ability to work under minimal supervision and prioritize work; ability to clearly explain policies procedures and regulations; ability to identify and correct errors in English usage sentence structure and punctuation; perform basic arithmetic calculations; ability to provide direction to temporary staff; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work; ability to take record type and transcribe information for reports correspondence and other documents in a variety of formats on a personal computer from clear copy or rough drafts at a speed necessary for successful job performance into finished copy; ability to establish and maintain various electronic and or manual recordkeeping systems; ability to use personal computer to set up and enter data using computer applications; ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the essential duties; ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public and to understand their inquiries acquire retain and apply a variety of information about the organization and functions of the City; ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential duties.
