CONSTRUCTION TECHNICIAN 3RD SHIFT

Starlink is the worlds first and largest satellite constellation using a low Earth orbit to deliver broadband internet capable of supporting streaming online gaming video calls and more. Leveraging advanced satellites and user hardware coupled with our deep experience with both spacecraft and on-orbit operations Starlink delivers high-speed low-latency internet to users all over the world.

We are seeking a skilled Construction Technician to join our team specializing in painting patching and finishing work. As a Construction Technician you will play a crucial role in supporting various construction projects ensuring that structures are built to specifications and safety standards. This position involves a variety of tasks including prep work painting patching and finishing work on walls floors drop ceilings trussed ceilings and other surfaces.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply paints coatings and finishes to surfaces using various techniques and tools
  • Patch and repair damaged surfaces including drywall concrete and wood
  • Perform finishing work including installing trim molding and other decorative elements. This will also include precision tasks such as leveling shimming and firing to ensure a high-quality finish.
  • Use hand and power tools such as sanders drills rollers hammers routers saws and sprayers
  • Support facilities in light demolition
  • Work with various materials including paints coatings and finishes
  • Collaborate with other construction team members to ensure projects are completed on time and to standard
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following proper procedures for handling materials and equipment
  • Advise in the selection of building materials requisition building materials and supplies
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area including tools and equipment
  • Transport materials and equipment as needed to complete tasks
  • Assist in various day-to-day construction tasks
  • Assist the construction team with vendor coordination

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3 years of residential/commercial/civil construction experience with a focus on painting patching and finishing work

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in many construction environments including residential commercial and civil projects
  • Basic knowledge of electrical plumbing heating ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems
  • Knowledge of basic math engineering and construction principles and methods
  • Experience with mechanical systems carpentry concrete welding earthwork and conduits
  • Basic knowledge of construction principles and methods including safety protocols and procedures
  • Experience with carpentry maintenance tasks including routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair window replacement cabinet/countertop replacement painting/texturing (interior and exterior) and door/hardware installation
  • Ability to read understand and follow detailed instructions and schematics
  • Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to use MS Outlook and Teams
  • Self-motivated and able to work well with others in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Safety training and experience with operating heavy equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willing to work all shifts overtime and weekends as needed. Estimated shift times: 3rd shift: 5:00PM 3:00AM Wednesday to Sunday OR Saturday to Wednesday
  • Standing for long periods of time climbing up and down ladders bending grasping sitting pulling pushing stooping and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
  • Able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Construction Technician/Level 1: $22.00 - $26.50/hour
Construction Technician/Level 2: $25.50 - $31.00/hour
Construction Technician/Level 3: $29.50 - $37.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills education and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. Non-exempt Washington employees are eligible for sick leave in accordance with Washingtons Sick Leave shuttles are offered to employees for roundtrip travel from select Seattle locations to the SpaceX Redmond office Monday to Friday.
