Assistant Resident Engineer- Cleveland Engine

In this position

Engine plant assistant resident engineers are part of Ford Motor Companys Internal Combustion Engine Propulsion and Thermal Systems Engineering (IPTSE) organization. Engine plant assistant resident engineers are responsible for working with the manufacturing teams to identify contain and resolve ongoing quality issues. Assistant residents are also responsible for engine component and system launches in the plant. Engine assistant plant residents will work closely with the propulsion design teams calibration plant vehicle teams and core quality.

This position reports to the resident engineer and is on-site at Cleveland Engine Plant (CEP). CEP is located in Cleveland Ohio USA and produces the 2.3L I4 and 3.5L V6 engines.

What youll do

Quality:

1. Participate in Variability Reduction Team with Manufacturing to address low time in service (LTIS) quality issues past product launch.
2. Prioritize ongoing and emerging issues using leading and lagging indicator data and analysis focusing on design and production related issues at the engine plant.
3. Define and investigate issues including developing trends based on vehicle line time in service operating conditions locations and other critical factors.
4. Lead and/or support cross-functional teams through root cause corrective action and prevent reoccurrence actions.
5. Conduct prevent reoccurrence action (PRA) read across to other engine plants through communication with the other residents. Implement PRAs as appropriate.
6. Represent Product Development during plant containment actions including quality holds stop ships.
7. Partner with functional quality personnel to lead emerging and ongoing issue discussions in propulsion (engine induction exhaust) fuel and thermal system quality meetings.
8. Attend leadership manufacturing and product quality meetings including Plant Quality Review (PQR) Functional Quality Review (FQR) Director Quality Review (DQR) as needed.
9. Lead and/or attend working level quality meetings.
10. Support safety and regulatory reviews as necessary.

Launch and Change Management:

1. Develop and execute PV plan in conjunction with Plant Launch and Quality Managers
2. Manage Launch specific alerts and assist in launch issue resolution
3. Support Concern process ensuring changes are feasible include plant costs and have plant concurrence
4. Review investigate and authorize SREAs
5. Support engine plant Manage the Change process conduct trials as necessary

Compliance:

1. Review and sign annual ES records Repair Procedures and DCP
2. Coordinate IP and Conformity of Production engine testing
3. Learn follow and communicate Powertrain Procedures (PTP)

What youll have

• Bachelors degree in engineering or other related degree
• 2 years of experience in Engine Product Development Quality Manufacturing or Systems Engineering

Even better if you have

• Automotive manufacturing experience
• Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
• Excellent problem-solving skills with solid understanding of problem-solving methodologies
• Excellent leadership and presentation skills.
• Proficient in English verbal and written
