About the Role

The primary purpose of the Supervisor Environmental Services position is to provide the leadership that oversees the work activities of cleaning personal to ensure clean orderly safe and attractive conditions that meet standards of quality within the Health Care and Educational Institution.

Responsibilities

What Youll Do

  • Plans and prepares work schedules and daily task assignments to ensure adequate coverage and cleanliness to all areas of responsibility and to effectively utilize employees equipment and materials within budgetary requirements. Oversees maintenance of employee time sheets and ensures submission to Payroll. Cleans hospital patient rooms baths showers laboratories offices corridors lobbies lounges restrooms elevators stairways locker rooms and other areas as assigned using approved cleaners and hospital approved germicide.
  • Conducts inspections in designated area and logs results; investigates complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment and takes corrective action.
  • Compiles data assembles information prepares required reports and documents; maintains accurate employee records and attendance records keeping system and submits to management in a timely manner.
  • Oversees the safe handling of bio-hazardous hazardous municipal waste and recyclable materials according to municipal state and national regulations.
  • Coordinates assigned environmental services workers for grounds duties to maintain the safe aesthetic exterior quality of the facility and for snow removal activities.
  • Develops and maintains good customer relations; promotes teamwork; and ensures delivery of customer services to meet the needs of employees patients staff and visitors in a supportive environment.
  • Responsible for implementing Bed Tracking System procedures and for expediting Bed Management.
  • Performs final rounds and office procedures at the end of the shift; enters data; is accountable to complete daily supervisory duties as observed by the environmental services manager.
  • Coaches staff to improve environmental services skills update information and expand knowledge tor performance improvement.

Qualifications

What Youll Bring

Required:

  • Three (3) years of experience in an environmental services department with at least two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role in the occupation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft XP Word Excel Power Point and Outlook is required.
  • Must be able to work every other weekend and holidays. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are recommended.
  • Ability to read write speak understand and communicate in English sufficiently to carry out the duties of the position; prior experience in institutional environmental services is preferred

Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)

In compliance with New Jerseys Pay Transparency Act the hourly rate for this position is $25.69 - $37.35.

University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position the candidates relevant work experience education and training key skills internal equity market data and organizational needs.
