The Opportunity
Residential Care & Therapeutic Residential Care (TRC) is intensive and time-limited care for a child or young person in statutory care that responds to the complex impacts of abuse neglect and separation from family. This is achieved through the creation of positive safe healing relationships and experiences informed by a sound understanding of trauma damaged attachment and development needs.
The TFM program is a model that is trauma informed and helps young people identify personal stressors and develop appropriate self-regulation techniques. Overall goals of the program include reduced problem behaviours increased pro-social behaviours increased social skills accomplishment of age-appropriate tasks and relationship development.
The role of the TFM Practitioners is use the TFM model to create lasting behavioural change for young people. You will be heavily support by the TFM Consultant who will coach you through learning the model over a 12-month period. Your learning modalities will include formal training on the job coaching observations and formal feedback processes. There is compulsory training for this role for successful candidates. Teaching Family Model homes are staffed on a 24/7 roster.
The TFM Practitioner and Residential Care Worker - Stand-Up role is required to participate in the nightly operation of the house which includes responding to the young persons emotional and functional needs the development of their personal skills all administrative requirements and household duties as required.
