The Boeing CompanyBoeing AvionX has exciting opportunity for an Autonomous Avionics System Engineering Lead to lead the Verification Validation and Certification strategy for Hardware and Software for advanced autonomous avionics in Long Beach CA or Plano TX. We are rapidly expanding our Avionics Systems Engineering team consisting of engineers with autonomous avionics product experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead the systems engineering effort across the entire product lifecycle to ensure delivery of a verified and certified autonomous avionics product.
Develop and own the integrated verification validation and certification strategy addressing hardware firmware and software aspects.
Lead the functional decomposition activity of system requirements to include leading functional architecture decomposition activity and trades.
Lead Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and simulation efforts to support architecture validation performance analysis and verification traceability
Oversight of all Integration and test activities to insure tests are executed as documented and all data has been collected to support post analysis activities
Oversight of all analysis reviews and validation of test data to insure the compliance of requirements for both hardware and software
Ensure System Engineering best practices configuration management quality and safety considerations are embedded into design verification and delivery processes.
Engages with the customer to insure seamless transition once the product has been delivered including supporting the product after delivery
Ensure requirements are decomposed allocated and traced to design verification activities and certification artifacts.
Support milestone and gate reviews (e.g. PDR/CDR/DV/Qualification) and prepare briefing materials for program leadership customers and certification authorities.
Interface with project / program team members management customer counterparts and technical staff to assist in defining and implementing the appropriate test strategies.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology) Computer Science Data Science Mathematics Physics Chemistry
Experience with the system engineering development lifecycle (V-Model)
Experience with ARP4754B ARP4761 DO-178c DO-254 DO-160 and DO-330 RTCA recommendations
Experience with Design Assurance Level (DAL) certification of software and hardware
Experience with Requirements Management Tools (ie DOORS)
Practical MBSE experience and fluency with SysML/Cameo Capella or equivalent modeling tools
Experience with different input traffic types such as serial discrete and digital interfaces (ie ARINC429 RS485 Ethernet and serial protocols)
Experience with software architecture and development processes
14 years related systems engineering/avionics development experience
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience working in an environment with assigned tasks that drive to completion within a schedule
Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
Experience in using scheduling tools (ie MS Project etc)
Experience with security/cyber considerations for avionics networks
