Job Description Summary

To be part of the DOGGERBANK offshore wind project based in Nigg Scotland. The project tooling engineer oversees the management on behalf of the business of a fleet of construction tools to be used by the teams onshore and offshore.
The fleet being composed but limited to of heavy-duty assets such as lifting yokes spreader beams hydraulic clamps hydraulic bolt tensioner and torque tools lifting slings and apparatus and installation aids for the installation of offshore wind turbine.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Provide direct support to the marshalling harbor and installation managers and work closely with the pre-assembly load-out and installation supervisors on sites.
  • Act as a tooling expert to subcontracting teams and GEV staff to always ensure certification reliability and availability of GEV provided construction tools.
  • Supervise tasks related to tooling management (part and spare part inventory maintenance inspections) and actively assist in their execution when needed.
  • Carry out end-of-activity inspections to confirm and report on their proper execution.
  • Report any deviations regarding project tools daily.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and tool manufacturers to ensure tools meet operational needs and comply with project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of tool usage condition inventory maintenance and inspections both locally and within company systems.
  • Coordinate and organize with marshalling harbor site manager and offshore construction manager inspection and maintenance schedule.
  • Plan and coordinate Level 3 maintenance performed by third-party vendors and track associated costs.
  • Ensure that Level 1 and Level 2 maintenance and inspections are properly carried out by the teams onshore and offshore overseeing their execution and participating when necessary.
  • Verify that project packages are properly maintaining and storing tools offering technical or practical support as required.
  • Identify and document lessons learned from tool usage to inform design or configuration improvements for future tools.
  • Participate in the implementation and optimization of new tools or processes on site supporting teams during their deployment.
  • Collaborate with the Project Training Manager to identify tooling-related
  • training needs and coordinate appropriate sessions for on-site personnel.
  • Contribute to the resolution of project non-conformities and defects related to tooling.
  • Be familiar with project and subcontractor contract requirements pertaining to tooling management.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives for tooling usage and performance on site.
  • Participate to user manual update when required and applicable
  • Participate to SAT needed at site. Plan and mobilize site resource with the marshalling harbor team
  • Liaise with project buyer to procure spare parts and new tools based on inventory and inspection schedule
  • Liaise with Site manager and project buyer to ensure the inspection certification and maintenance services contract are in place
  • Organize transport with warehouse manager

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Mechanical and/or electrotechnical Engineering education and/or work experience.
  • Ability to work across multiple technical areas.
  • Ability and willingness to climb Wind Turbine Generators and Work at Height as needed.
  • Availability to provide after-hour weekend and holiday support as needed.
  • Ability to write well and explain tooling needs/requirements to project leadership and/or subcontractors.
  • Ability to maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Thoroughly understand all GE Vernova Installation processes and procedures.
  • Computer proficient withWord Excel PowerPoint Smartsheet Servicemax or other standard business-required programs.

  • Hands-on approach to learning and a desire to spend time in the field.
  • Proactive mindset and a willingness to collaborate across departments.
  • Effective communication andproblem-solving skills technical writing experience preferred.
  • Fluent English required.
  • Ability to mentor and train junior field engineers.
