Position Summary
The Medical Radiology Technologist (X-Ray technologist) is the responsible user of all radiology equipment and performs a variety of standard technical radiological examinations including fluoroscopy. They prepare and assess patients for procedures ensuring comfort and safety and produce high-quality diagnostic images for physician addition the Radiology Technologist is responsible for the care and maintenance of all radiology equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the radiology equipment and auxiliary equipment function correctly and are maintained properly.
- Follow documented safe operating procedures for the equipment.
- Practices effective radiation protection infection control and safety techniques as applicable.
- Handle all personal information and all personal health information according to the appropriate governing privacy legislation.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control activities according to equipment manufacturers instructions and all applicable industry standards.
- Ensure all images are saved and filed in the appropriate medical record.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program.
- Active registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
- Previous experience with fluoroscopy in an operating room environment.
