The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Associate on a 18-month contract at the Centre for Research in Pedagogy & Practice (CRPP).
Project Title: Examining Environmental Stewardship in Singapore Schools: A Socio-Ecological Perspective
Project Introduction:
The project examines how schools in Singapore embed environmental stewardship across leadership teaching infrastructure culture and partnerships. It aims to distill evidence-informed insights to guide the mainstreaming of sustainable education across schools fostering collective impact toward sustainability reforms. This project offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful practice-informed research with policy and educational relevance.
Requirements
Essential
- A Masters degree preferably in education social sciences environmental studies or related fields.
- Keen interest in qualitative research and sustainability/ education issues.
- Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills for engaging with school leaders teachers and community partners
- Ability to work independently manage timelines and contribute to collaborative team efforts
- A meticulous pleasant and mature disposition with the ability to handle research data and stakeholder relationships professionally
Preferred
- Prior experience with qualitative data collection (e.g. interviews observations) and analysis (e.g. NVivo) is an advantage
- Prior engagement with local school environment and education programmes will be considered favourably
- Demonstrated ability to produce academic writing; having published in journals will be a strong asset
Responsibilities:
- Conducting literature reviews and synthesising relevant research
- Supporting project management including recruiting participating schools liaising with stakeholders procuring equipment overseeing transcribing work and managing project data in line with institutional protocols
- Co-conceptualising research design and instruments with the team
- Collecting data through interviews observations as well as document and artefact analysis
- Assisting with coding and qualitative data analysis
- Supporting preparation of reports presentations and academic publications
- Organising and co-presenting findings at workshops
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator
