Job Description Summary

This 25-hour-per-week Advanced Manufacturing Technician position is critical in preparing relocating and setting up advanced manufacturing and robotics equipment while also supporting faculty students and industry partners. The Technician will ensure safe effective and innovative use of equipment for instruction applied research and workforce training initiatives. The work schedule is flexible with evening availability (after 5:00 pm) required at times to support classes workforce training and lab operations.

Job Description

Equipment Relocation & Setup

  • Prepare relocate and install advanced manufacturing equipment from Hamilton and Middletown campuses to the Advanced Manufacturing Workforce & Innovation Hub.
  • Lead operational testing calibration and commissioning of equipment to ensure instructional and research readiness.

Laboratory & Classroom Support

  • Support labs and classrooms by setting up testing safety compliance and maintaining equipment for courses in robotics automation machining and integrated systems.
  • Support hands-on instruction for courses.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance

  • Operate and maintain a variety of manufacturing equipment including but not limited to:
    • Manual and CNC lathes and milling machines
    • Industrial robotic arms and robotic work cells
    • PLCs automation and mechatronic systems
    • Measurement and testing instruments
  • Conduct routine inspections troubleshooting and preventative maintenance; coordinate repairs when needed.
  • Train students and assist faculty in safe and effective equipment use.

Workforce Development & Industry Engagement

  • Support applied research faculty-led projects and industry-sponsored collaborations in advanced manufacturing and automation.
  • Contribute to workforce training programs and community engagement initiatives that showcase the Advanced Manufacturing Hubs capabilities.
  • Assist with outreach events demonstrations and technical workshops for regional employers and partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology Industrial Technology Mechatronics or related technical field.
  • Hands-on proficiency with one or more systems: industrial robotics CNC machining PLCs or mechatronics.

Consideration may be given to candidates with:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • Industry certifications (e.g. FANUC HandlingTool Siemens S7 Studio5000 CNC operation).
  • Experience working in a university technical training or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with instructional support for engineering technology courses.
  • Strong communication organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to lab safety reliability and student learning.
