Job Description

As a Graduate Engineer you will begin your career at Flow Traders with an extensive one-year training program. To start you will learn everything you need to know about our core business the different departments at Flow Traders and how technology plays a key role in improving our proprietary trading platform. The core of the program will involve collaborating with our Technology teams and your fellow graduate engineers on various projects which cover multiple areas of our technology landscape. Throughout the program you will receive continuous support from your dedicated mentor not only in the field of technology but also in your personal development.

What you will do:

  • Work on applications that support the core business of the company
  • Improve our proprietary trading platform by writing efficient and performant code designing new and innovative solutions
  • Maintain existing systems with a focus on low latency and stability
  • Work in small business-aligned teams and follow agile practices to ensure fast adaptability
  • Work side-by-side with Trading and other relevant teams every day which creates swift feedback loops and immediate insight into the value that each change provides
  • Maintain shared libraries encourage code re-use and continuously evolve our views on application architecture
  • Manage maintain and shape infrastructures develop and enact contingency plans and provide secondary and tertiary support to our teams
  • Frequent contact with internal and external stakeholders (traders data centers/colocations third party suppliers)
  • Proactively lookout for ways to optimise performance
  • Design develop and implement platform solutions utilizing containerization technologies (Docker etc.) and container orchestration tools (Kubernetes)
  • Deploy and manage cloud-native applications on the platform using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
  • Implement and manage industry standard monitoring solutions to collect and analyse platform metrics for performance optimization and troubleshooting

What you need to succeed:

  • University degree in Computer Science or similar
  • Penultimate year or final year HK university students
  • Interest to specialize in C/Python/Rust is required
  • Moderate knowledge of Linux and Git is required
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible is a plus
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS GCP Azure) is a plus
  • Experience with automation tools (Bash scripting Python etc.) for infrastructure management is a plus
  • Experience with distributed systems such as Kafka Kubernetes Hazelcast or hadoop is a major plus
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Interest in the finance industry preferably trading
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to take ownership and work in teams
